She seizes the opportunity of a weak cell signal to call her sister and inform her about Jack. As another storm approaches, Jack finds Emma and brings her back inside, tying her up again. A Deputy Police officer arrives at Jack's door looking for Emma. Jack feigns ignorance, but Emma's shouts from the cellar alert the officer just as she is about to leave. The officer tries to reach Emma, but Jack kills her.
