Hollywood A-lister Brad Pitt has been spotted at the Rolex 24 at Daytona, the most prestigious endurance race in the United States¹. However, Pitt is not just a fan of the sport. He's at the Daytona International Speedway for a very different reason - he's filming scenes for his yet-to-be-titled Formula One movie.

The storyline of the movie contains an arc in which Pitt, portraying an aging driver, has returned to sports car racing. His presence at the event has been a bit of a headache for many of the other drivers in the field, mainly because of the heavy security at the driver motorhome lot.

Joining him in this high-octane journey is none other than Academy Award-winning actor Javier Bardem. Bardem plays the role of a team owner, a friend of Pitt's character, who brings him back into the world of Formula One.

The movie, supposedly named 'Apex', aims to showcase a fictional Formula One team, APXGP, in a quest for a rookie driver's championship title. The production crews of the film were immersed in the real-life Formula One experience at various Grands Prix last season to depict a perfect F1 setting in the movie.

To prepare for his role, Pitt will collaborate with Wright Motorsports, a team participating in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. One of the team's Porsche 911 GT3 RS bearing the number 120, customized for the film and featuring Brad Pitt's character, Sonny Hayes, will participate in the Rolex 24.

The storyline revolves around Formula 1 and follows the character of veteran driver Sonny Hayes, portrayed by Pitt, who comes out of retirement to assist rookie F1 charger Joshua Pears, played by Damson Idris.

The challenges in filming have given rise to various production issues, including the cancellation of a scene set to take place at the inaugural Grand Prix in Las Vegas. When Hamilton was asked for a release date, he said: “Probably early 2025, I would imagine, with the post-work they’d have to do. So yeah, it’s been delayed a lot.”

This movie is a thrilling blend of Hollywood and the adrenaline-fueled world of Formula One racing. With Brad Pitt and Javier Bardem at the helm, audiences can expect a high-octane journey that takes them right into the heart of the action at the 24 Hours of Daytona.
