Justin Timberlake's Homecoming: New Song 'Selfish' Debuts at Free Concert

Pop icon Justin Timberlake returns to his roots, debuting his new song 'Selfish' at a free concert in his hometown of Memphis.

Justin Timberlake, the multi-talented pop icon, made a triumphant return to his hometown of Memphis on Friday, January 19, for a free concert, where he debuted his brand-new single, "Selfish".

The concert, held at the historic Orpheum Theater, was a homecoming for Timberlake, who has not released new solo material since his fifth studio album, 2018's "Man of the Woods". The new song, "Selfish," was played live for the first time during the concert, much to the delight of the Tennessee crowd.

The lyrics of "Selfish" reveal a deeply personal side of Timberlake. "So if I get jealous, I can't help it/ I want every bit of you, I guess I'm selfish," he sang, showcasing his signature silky-smooth R&B style.

In addition to the debut of "Selfish," Timberlake also unveiled a trailer for his sixth album, titled "Everything I Thought It Was". The album's title had been a mystery, with Timberlake teasing fans with the acronym "EITIW" on his Instagram account earlier in the week.

The trailer, narrated by Hollywood A-lister Benicio Del Toro, features a model car driving towards a desert gas station, hinting at a possible theme or concept for the upcoming album.

Timberlake's return to music has been highly anticipated. His longtime collaborator and producer, Timbaland, had previously hinted at a new album from the 42-year-old singer in 2024. In an interview with Variety, Timbaland said the album would mark a return to the "fun Justin".

The free concert in Memphis was announced on January 12 via Timberlake's social media accounts. Fans were able to register for tickets through a link on Timberlake's accounts and on the Orpheum website.

The debut of "Selfish" and the announcement of "Everything I Thought It Was" mark a new chapter in Timberlake's illustrious career. From his early days with *NSYNC to his successful solo career, Timberlake has consistently reinvented himself, keeping fans on their toes.

As we await the release of "Selfish" and "Everything I Thought It Was," one thing is certain: Justin Timberlake continues to make his mark on the music industry, one song at a time.
